WATCH: Alan Pardew played a vital role the last time Crystal Palace reached an FA Cup final

Crystal Palace return to the FA Cup final stage for the first time in 26 years tomorrow afternoon, where they look to overcome a stuttering Manchester United and finish their season on a high.

Coincidentally, Manchester United were also the team they faced in the cup final that year and current Eagles boss Alan Pardew played an instrumental role in guiding them past Liverpool in the semi-final.

The game was decided in extra-time, when Pardew popped up to head home the winning goal, cuing the iconic celebration.

Earlier that season, September 12, 1989 to be exact, Liverpool humiliated Crystal Palace with a record 9-0 win at Anfield in the old First Division. An extra time winner in the cup was all the sweeter in memory of that defeat.

Incredible scenes at Villa Park every time Palace score, the game itself was one of the finest in the competition's history.
