WATCH: As John Giles turns 75, look back on an all-action legend scoring, creating and blocking

Today is a special day for Leeds United and Ireland legend John Giles as the Off The Ball soccer analyst turns 75.

So what better day to look back at the talent which helped him stand out for club and country during a stellar playing career.

Next year, it will be 60 years since he first made the move to England to join Matt Busby's Manchester United, where he would remain until 1963, winning the FA Cup in his finals season:

Manchester United celebrate with the '63 FA Cup after their 3-1 victory: (l-r) Tony Dunne, Bobby Charlton, Noel Cantwell, Paddy Crerand, Albert Quixall, David Herd, Johnny Giles *S&G / S&G and Barratts/EMPICS Sport)

Giles would go on to join Leeds United where he would enjoy the greatest spell of his career in a formidable midfield alongside Billy Bremner. An attacking threat, that side of his game is very clear as he plays a crucial part in a goal against Chelsea:

Here's an example of one of the goals he scored for Don Revie's side in 1971 (Harry Redknapp was playing for West Ham as well):

He also put a shift in defensively and in this game from the 1971-72 season against Arsenal, he took one for the team in a 3-0 win, in which he also supplied the ball for a Peter Lorimer piledriver (8 minutes 20 seconds in):

After leaving Leeds in 1975, John played for West Bromwich Albion, with this wonder goal against former club Man United one of the major highlights of his time at a club he would go on to manage:

John Giles was on Off The Ball as always on a Thursday night and you can listen back on the podcast:
