WATCH: Goal-line technology helped Bournemouth beat Liverpool

The value of goal-line technology was shown on Sunday afternoon, during Bournemouth's win over Liverpool.

With just under 20 minutes left in the game, Liverpool were leading 3-1, and could have scored a fourth through a mistake by Bournemouth goalkeeper Artur Boruc.

The Polish goalkeeper caught what looked like an easy Liverpool corner, before taking a step back into the goals after catching the ball. In television pictures after the corner, the pictures showed how close Boruc was to an embarrassing mistake.

Having only been introduced in the 2013-14 season, the Premier League's Goal Decision System has seen controversial goal-line decisions become a thing of the past.

Boruc's save could have been seen as the turning point in the game. In the following ten minutes, Bournemouth scored twice, to level the game, before Nathan Ake scored the winner in injury time.

The system was also used in Manchester United's draw with Everton. Zlatan Ibrahimovic's goal was cleared by Ramiro Funes Mori after it had crossed the line, but the decision would have not been straight-forward without the technology.
