WATCH: Hundreds flock to the streets of Killybegs for Seamus Coleman's homecoming

48 hours can be an eternity in sport.

On Saturday evening, Ireland defender Seamus Coleman was in Lyon preparing for the Second Round game against France on Sunday afternoon. On Monday night, he was being given a homecoming reception in his native Killybegs.

The Donegal defender, who captained Ireland in the team's last two games, travelled to the north-west after the Irish team landed in Dublin Airport hours earlier.

Coleman walked into the town with his wife Rachel, daughter Lilly and family to a guard of honour from the local team St. Catherine's and thousands lined the streets of the coastal town.

The Everton defender was brought up on a specially constructed stage, where he spoke to the fans in attendance and thanked them for their support both at home and in France throughout the tournament.

"I'm so proud to be from Killybegs, to be from Donegal", an emotional Coleman told the crowd.
