WATCH: Steven Gerrard pays special visit to young Liverpool fan suffering from cancer

11-year-old Liverpool fan Charlie Rimmer was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) in February, and has been battling the disease ever since.

The rare condition affects just 35 children a year in the UK and, after Charlie's family were told that there is no treatment available to her at home, they began a fundraising campaign online to try and source the £37,000 needed to send her to Germany for a trial treatment.

In December, former Liverpool captain and club legend Steven Gerrard dropped by the Rimmer household to pay Charlie a visit and give her a Christmas surprise before she started another round of radiotherapy.

A short clip of the visit has since gone viral on social media, which shows Gerrard knocking on the door of the house, much to the surprise of Charlie.

Gerrard also has a bit of a joke with the family as he steps in the door, making sure that he's entered a red house and not a blue one in the football mad city.

The former Liverpool captain recently called time on his career after a brief spell with the Los Angeles Galaxy, and is rumoured to be making his first steps into the world of football management.

You can find more information and donate to Charlie's campaign here.
