Jurgen Klopp rules out January sale of Swiss star Shaqiri

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has ruled out selling Xherdan Shaqiri this month.

The Swiss international has been a regular substitute for the Premier League leaders, starting only three games in all competitions this season.

Press speculation had linked Shaqiri with potential January moves to Roma or Sevilla, with Liverpool reportedly valuing the 28-year old at €30million.

But speaking ahead of the Thursday night Premier League trip to Wolves, Klopp says there is no real chance that Shaqiri will be leaving, "The majority of December and January we had a bench full of kids - wonderful kids, but kids.

"So how could we think about giving a player to anybody? I don't understand that.

"It's not about Shaq or whatever, it's about pretty much everybody that we just have to keep them for sorting our situation and not the situation for different clubs."

Klopp says there's been no official approach for any of his players, and unless they are "deseperate" the manager says they have "no intention to do anything" regarding sales this month.

While Shaqiri wasn't involved in the 2-0 win over Manchester United, Fabinho marked his return as an 83rd minute substitute for Sadio Mané.

Fabinho nears return

The Brazilian midfielder missed nine Premier League games after picking up a ligament injury in November's Champions League draw with Napoli at Anfield.

Klopp says it's "sensationally good" to have Fabinho back, but didn't reveal whether or not he will start at Molineux, "It was a long time out - not too long thank god - but it was long enough.

"He needs to find rhythm again and we will see how we introduce him step-by-step.

"Best news you can get that we have these boys back, that we have Joel [Matip] back, that Dejan [Lovren] is on the way back and we played through the toughest period of the season with two centre-halves and our fifth centre-half - Fabinho - who can play in the position as well was injured as well, so that was really tough."

Dominate in a slightly different manner

Klopp says they "came through" that period of Fabinho and Matip's injuries, when in reality they haven't conceded a Premier League goal since the 5-2 win over Everton on December 4.

So how can the runaway Premier League leaders - unbeaten in the top flight all season, and bound for a first title in 30-years - improve? "Concentration level", is Klopp's reply.

"The last 5-minutes of the first half and second half [against Manchester United] it was longer, 20-minutes maybe, when United came up the game should have been decided already."

Klopp felt Liverpool's inability to take their chances invited United back into Sunday's game at Anfield, and says they need to "find a common way to still dominate the game in a slightly different manner."
