'The next American male to win a Grand Slam hasn't been born yet'

Yesterday on Off The Ball, Donny spoke about the huge decline in US tennis' production line of talent.

Tonight, ESPN tennis analyst and former French Open Men's Doubles champion Luke Jensen was on the show to review the early buds of Wimbledon 2015.

But the Atlanta, Georgia-born doubles specialist also shared his perspective on what's been going wrong in his country in the last decade, particularly in the Mens' Division. As well as the globalisation of the game, Jensen had another explanation.

"Over on this side of the pond, the American player doesn't care," he said, explaining that getting to the top does not appear to be an ambition anymore.

"And you're competing against a landscape of financial incentives where the only way for the Russian and Ukrainians etc, the financial incentives to hit more balls and dedicate themselves to a higher cause, that's what it's all about. The American kid is out."

He also went on to say that the "next American male to win a Grand Slam hasn't been born yet."

Jensen also gave his take on the claims that Boris Becker was coaching Novak Djokovic during a recent match, saying that coaches helping their players "has been going on for decades".
