Brian Kerr: Ireland have no great players and no real structure

Brian Kerr isn't feeling too optimistic heading into this international break.

He warned OTB AM, Off The Ball's breakfast show, that he believes Ireland need to improve their structure to compete:

"If we're constantly playing 'off the cuff,' more or less, with the quality of players we have, I think we are more likely to get bad results than good results.

"We have a team with no outstanding players, no World Class players, despite Martin maybe name-checking Seamus Colemen as a World Class international player. I don't think he is at this stage of his career," he said after Liverpool and Manchester City's draw on Sunday evening.

"I would hope that Martin and Roy will come up with a clear game plan for each of these games... When the team loses a match heavily, the reaction of the staff and the manager is always, 'We can't let that happen again.'"

"I think it's difficult for them because of the lack of outstanding players, but I think they have bought some of the trouble on themselves," he continued.

The former-Irish boss added that Denmark and Wales will have been busy working on game plans to exploit weaknesses in this Irish team.
