Keith Wood and Eddie O'Sullivan form the James Lowe appreciation society

Eddie O'Sullivan and Keith Wood were blown away by James Lowe's performance for Leinster against Munster last weekend.

They were talking on Monday Night Rugby, brought to you in association with EirSport.

O'Sullivan feels that it is now a no-brainer that James Lowe is in the starting XV for the boys in blue, and has sidelined others for his role in the back line.

"He is such a strong finisher with the ball - he has a knack of getting the ball down. He is such a good athlete and a game-changer in many ways," said Eddie.

"If Leinster want to be in tight games towards the end of the season, whether it is the Pro 14 or in Europe - you might only get one of those chances in a game.

"You want the hands of Lowe who is going to finish it out for you and maybe win the game for you.

"You can see guys around him expect him to make thing happen. They give him the ball and get over the gain line.

"They have to consider that they are going to comfortably win without him, it would be very foolish to go into a game without him when you need him most."

Even loyal Munster man Keith had precious little bad to say about Lowe's performance in a game that was subject to controversial refereeing decisions.

"I would say he is very annoying to play against. Maybe it's all the hair - maybe it's the fact that I'm folically-challenged," said Keith.

"But he kind of rubs people up the wrong way, and he rubs me up the wrong way, looking at him! He's got boundless energy and he is really, really effective.

"He is a game-changer, he is a match-winner.

"He has become that go-to southern hemisphere guy in the back-line that you can depend upon to do something special!"
