What should Mayo tweak to beat Dublin?

For the first time since 2001, Mayo got their hands on national silverware.

James Horan's side saw off Kerry on Sunday to claim the Allianz League Division 1 crown.

As a launch-pad towards the summer, it's a great way to start the year - and Horan's second spell.

But whether it will lead to an All-Ireland tilt, only time will tell.

Former Mayo footballer Billy Joe Padden joined Joe Molloy and Kevin Kilbane to analyse the effects of victory.

He touched on areas Mayo can improve from yesterday's trophy-winning performance.

"One of the things Mayo did in those All-Ireland finals really well against Dublin was holding possession," he said.

"Mayo were too anxious"

"That's a good tactic against Dublin because if they don't have the ball, they can't hurt you.

"And I thought for long periods of the first half yesterday, Mayo were trying to be all-action when they would have been better off... you just felt Mayo were too anxious, trying to make something happen.

"They really should have been a bit more patient and just move the ball around a bit better. Use the full width of the field and recycle the possession.

"But they were just too anxious to create that break-the-line runner through the middle. And they resulted in turnovers, particularly between the 10th and 25th minute. They really were so anxious in that early stage, that it hurt them.

"And I think if you go and play against Dublin, you have to show that composure. Even if you are two points down in the game, you cannot always get those two points back instantly. It might take you 10 or 15 minutes of patient play where you are dominating the ball and moving it from side to side that allows you to create those scoring opportunities."
