WATCH: 2018's Best Football Books with Team 33

What have you been reading in 2018? Have any sports books jumped out to you?

Well, this week on Team 33 we dedicated our fifth annual Christmas Special to the best football books of the year.

So, Joe Coffey and Cian Roche joined me in the Off The Ball studio to discuss the standout sports books of the year, including:

  • Football 2.0 by Grant Wahl
  • State of Play by Michael Calvin (check out our interview with him right here)
  • World In Motion by Simon Hart (check out Part 1 of our interview with him right here)
  • How To Be A Footballer by Peter Crouch
  • Kevin Keegan: My Life In Football

Some of our listeners also sent us in recommendations, including one outside the football sphere in the shape of a revelatory biography of Tiger Woods.

Classics

Meanwhile, we also delved back into classic football books like The Miracle of Castel Di SangroA Life Too Short: The Tragedy of Robert Enke (check out our 2018 interview with author Ronald Reng here) and  I Am Zlatan Ibrahimovic. But The Damned United divided opinion.

The Christmas Special also coincided with Manchester United's decision to sack Jose Mourinho. So Enda Coll and Jonathan Higgins jumped into studio for that, as well as discussing football's Winners and Losers from 2018. Enda also gave us his view on the merits of the new Netflix documentary Sunderland Till I Die.

You can either watch the full Christmas Special above or listen stream on iTunes.
