Why was Nigel Pearson really sacked by Leicester?

Why did Leicester City sack manager Nigel Pearson?

That's the question on many lips especially as he kept the Foxes in the Premier League with a fine run of form at the end of last season.

The BBC have reported that it was "definitely not a football issue" and suggested that it was related to his own son's dismissal after his involvement in a sex tape in Thailand.

The BBC Radio Leicester's Jason Bourne joined us on Off The Ball tonight to shed more light on the turn of events.

"I would guess from what's been said and what I've heard on the grapevine from other journalists within the game that it was simply down to this latest incident and the punishment dealt out to his son which Nigel Pearson may not have liked," he said.

Bourne also added that fans are split over the board's decision and based on the bookies that former Celtic and Leicester midfielder Neil Lennon is one of the favourites - as well as current Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill.

However, he also said that O'Neill is always linked whenever there is a vacancy at Leicester due to his success there as a manager many moons ago.

Bourne also spoke about Pearson being "very personable and a nice chap" away from the microphones, in contrast to the perception of a testy character created by a number of high profile incidents.
