Wilfried Zaha set to stay at Crystal Palace

Everton look to be disappointed in their transfer chase for Wilfried Zaha, as it appears that he will stay at Crystal Palace.

The Ivorian was the subject of a £40m bid from Arsenal, before revealing through his agent that he wanted to leave Palace this summer.

The signing of Nicolas Pepe put paid to a move to the Emirates, but Everton have appeared as serious suitors for Zaha in recent weeks, making two bids for his services.

Zaha yesterday put in a transfer request to leave the South London club, but Sky Sports have reported that he will now stay at club despite not training with the squad this morning.

There had been speculation earlier today that Palace may have been looking at Rennes' Ismaila Sarr as a potential replacement for Zaha. Sarr ended up signing for Watford after the Hornets' long pursuit of the Senegalese international.

It looks to end a summer of speculation for a player that was crucial to Palace's survival in the seasons since his return from Manchester United in 2015.

Meanwhile, Palace have confirmed the signing of Republic of Ireland international for a fee rising to £8m in add-ons.

McCarthy had found game time hard to come by during his comeback from injury, and will have found time on the pitch limited further by the permanent arrival of Andre Gomes, Fabian Delph's signature from Manchester City, and Jean-Philippe Gbamin of Mainz.
