OTB's Eoin Sheahan and John Duggan made a recent trip to Goff's Orby sale to take a look behind the scenes at the biggest horse sale on the racing calendar.

Goff's Orby sale is widely regarded as the biggest and most coveted auction on the Irish racing calendar.

There are millions spent every year in the auction, and this year was no exception with a whopping €3.2 million spent on lot 318.

The horse from lot 318 was from John O'Connor's Ballylinch stud. O'Connor believes the horse is one of the best breed in Europe this year.

"We're professionals, we are here to do a job so. We are delighted of course but we did expect her to sell extremely well. She one of the best breed filly's that will be sold in Europe, this year. Everything else about her matched up to her pedigree. She was a fantastic physique, great walker, vetted extremely well. She has a charisma about her."

The Ballylinch man says he didn't expect the vast amount of money that was paid for the horse but says he expected a large sum because of the pedigree of the breed.

"Probably not but at that level it's hard to know what to expect. Once you get to a certain point it depends on what those people decide they want. to stop at, or how long they want to keep going.

Amer Abdul Aziz bought the horse and says he's very happy with the purchase of the filly who is in the blood line of Galileo. He talks Eoin Sheahan through his emotions in the bidding dock.

"Of course, at a certain point, you're playing against the big boys. They have bigger pockets than us, at the same time you're trying to secure her. There's no doubt - I was a bit worried not having her but we said we are going to go one more time, and more more time happened to be us."
