Munster have been knocked out of the Heineken Champions Cup after Glasgow Warriors secured a bonus-point win over Sale Sharks.

The top three runners-up from the Champions Cup pools will progress to the quarter-finals and it is now impossible for Munster to place in the top three.

Ulster are on 21 points, Northampton are on 19 and Glasgow are on 17 with Munster currently on 11 with a game remaining.

A bonus-point win over Ospreys tomorrow would see Munster finish on 16 points, meaning they are out of the competition.

Their pool rivals Saracens are still in contention of qualifying for the quarter-finals, however, as a win over Racing 92 will see them finish on at least 18 points.

This would knock Glasgow out as they would be the fourth-highest runner-up behind Saracens.

That means Leinster, as the top seed, could play Saracens in the quarter-final, should they beat Racing without a bonus-point.

However, a bonus-point win for Sarries would see Leinster take on Northampton for the third time this season, provided Gloucester don't beat Toulouse with a bonus-point.
