10 of the 12 members of Mayo Ladies' executive board have resigned, in a continuing crisis in Mayo GAA.

The Connaught Telegraph reports that an email was sent to all clubs in Mayo on Tuesday afternoon confirming the resignation of 10 members of the board.

The email reads:

“The Executive members listed have requested a postponement of tonight's Mayo Ladies County Board meeting.

"There are several issues that were raised by delegates at the February County Board meeting that we still do not have answers for. The postponement has not been facilited.

“Therefore we are giving notice to clubs that we the 10 members named below are stepping down from our position with immediate effect.

“Despite long hours and extraordinary effort, we cannot work within the curent enviroment. We are calling for an Emergency General Meeting for Thursday, March 19.

“We'd like to thank all clubs for your help and support to date.”

The email names the 10 members of the board as Breda Waldron, Agnes McDonagh, Cathy Fleming, Declan Kennedy, Terry Pattinson, Damien Gavin, Meghan Craughwell, Brian Dunleavy, Des Phillips and Padraig Hennigan.

The news comes just two weeks after it was confirmed that Mayo GAA would not receive €250,000 which had been initially raised in their interest after the closure of the Mayo GAA International Supporters Foundation.

In a letter written to the County Board by the collective's founder and chairman Tim O'Leary, it was revealed that the trustees of the MGISF and O'Leary had opted to disperse the remaining funds to a selection of charities in the region.

Ladies football in the county have also benefited by way of the split with a portion of the money going toward the acquisition of equipment for the team.
